10:30 AM Women of Faith Bible Study
October 24, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
In the previous session of this three-part Bible study, we learned how the community of Israel created and sang Psalms to express their emotions and hopes in response to profoundly stressful and painful events. The focus was on the primary emotion … Anger.
In this session, participants will explore another one of the primary emotions, specifically Grief, through biblical poetry. Scripture readings include Psalms 25, 77, and 126, as well as Lamentations 2 and 5. Biblical
poetry offers countless resources for liturgy, lament and hope for those who grieve, those who struggle to name their grief and those called to comfort the grieving.
The source of our Bible studies is printed in the ELCA’s GATHER MAGAZINE, to which individuals may subscribe. If you have not subscribed to the Gather magazine, don’t let that keep you from joining
us… we will provide a copy for you to use.
Please Note…The 24th is the 4th Thursday of the month, rather than the second. This change was agreed upon due to the fact that I will be in Japan unl the 18th of October.
